New Zealand tour of West Indies, 2012|Match Summary

Chris Gayle

Another sparkling inning by the IPL Rockstar Christopher Gayle and Another star Sunil narine did the damage as West Indies clinch a 2-0 series win against New Zealand. Following a good form gayle was in mood to blast yet another T-20 ton. His sparkling inning was full of great shots and destructive placements and of course power as well.

Gayle  caused as much damage as he could  but was eventually dismissed by Nathan McCullum  not long before scoring  53, but another Ipl power house and sweet stroke maker  Bravo's burst ensured West Indies had another impressive score. Narine made a return to unpredicted delivering form and productive as seen in this years Ipl, picking up 4 for 12.

New Zealand were much more disciplined with the ball than last game  but Doug Bracewell was a poor performer yet again. New Zealand team expect a lot from this well-built genuine fast bowler. His performance was exceptionally poor as he gifted 43 run of his 3 overs with an economy of 14.33 runs per over. Tim southee and Ellis were also gifted runs with an economy of 10 runs per over. The stand out performer was Kyle Mills just giving 5 runs per over in such a batsmen paradise.

Each individual batsmen stroked runs at a higher strike rate and most of them batted above 150 except extraordinary batsmen Dwayne Bravo who struck it at the massive strike rate of 318 which showed the difficulties for New Zealand bowlers against giant of T20 cricket currently. Following score card proves it all.

Looking at the following  batting score card anyone could feel the entertainment one got watching the game as Gayle and his counter parts tore the bowling apart.

New Zealand tried to come back when they gave early blow and kept Gayle off strike but once he was in the mood the momentum of Caribbean was back and they put on a good total on the board. Never New Zealand looked like coming back. But when gayle was dismissed they had an outside chance but all the other stars sparkled to set a right tone for them and kept a huge task for New Zealanders who never looked like winning it. Narine and brilliant wicket keeping by Dinesh Ramdin added salt in their wound as they slipped to 43 for 5 in the first 10 over and game was not far over for them. The scorecard says it all

Sunil Narine claimed four wickets and earned Man of the match with the scorecard reflecting West indies good bowling

U-19 ASIA CUP REVIEW|NEPALI CRICKET

WE ARE PROUD OF NEPALI CRICKET

Fans at T.U ground
After a long period of time since Nepal played their last game against India I am up to the above words that I have written as the heading of this article. What a fight back from Nepali players. All those spirit and positiveness that I talked in the previous articles were just implemented with die hard attitude by our Heroes. The heroic of Rajesh Pulami Magar with the bat when most needed was seen and not to forget his fielding and bowling too. Although it was not enough for a win Against India but overall this positiveness is going to be a very important asset for him and Nepal in the upcoming world cup. Winning means not only being victorious but showing your capabilities and giving 100% in what you do the best, so did our team with fielding and bowling. It is not a word of sympathy for our lost in the series but a true statement which must be accepted by all the well-wisher of cricket.
This tournament had great teams full of internationally featured players. Our team was always considered weak and was grouped against the two Asian giants India and Pakistan. Although we have lost both the games but we didn’t let history of the opponents suppress our bravery. They were given hard times by our bowlers and equally backed up by some talented fielders as pradeep Aire, Sagar pun, and Rahul Bishwakarma and many others. It is not that were very very poor in the batting department and not that we were excellent but were very good than some recent tournaments where a single batsmen held the tournament. This happens with lot of teams. As for instance the currently held CB series featuring Australia, India, Srilanka showed that legends may also have rough time no matter how technically sound  batsman you are but it doesn’t mean that you can take lightly some of the heroics shown by Virat Kohli and skipper M.S. Dhoni. Similar is the situation with Nepal we can’t take spark away from Rajesh Pulami ,Rahul Bishwakarma and Avinash Karna.

WEAK MANAGEMENT AND RESOURCES SCARCITY

We did many wrong things that lead us to our downfall but it doesn’t mean we were totally wrong. Conditions didn’t favor us a lot either. As for instance, an untimely run out gave bunches of wickets to the Pakistani bowlers during the batting collapse in the 2nd game. Similarly, poor weather condition, untimely rain , damp pitch and heavy outfield were some factors making our team’s heroic bowling performance  to overshadow by the so called poor performance. We were forced to lose all the wickets within 91 runs. One of the most important things that I noticed was all of the batsmen was out in the same fashion making me to inspect the truth. I soon realized the pitch might had dual nature and dual paced. The conditions mostly favored swing bowlers and pace bowlers with the overcast conditions. These are not the excuses but if you analyse as a cricket thinker and well-wisher you may soon realize what I am talking about. If you are talking about such an important game for both the team all the factors must be analysed properly. Now it also doesn’t mean that we lost the game without committing any mistake. We were not   upto the mark against such a good team. We lacked research about key players of India. We couldn’t gather their weakness and make it our strength, In this modern age equipped with technology we could make their collection of shots and modes of getting out in the recent matches. We could gather the you tube videos of Indian captain Unmukt Chand. He is undoubtly a world class player and we should show everyone that game demands patience but not history or past records does it for your team Neither  we had any information about the strength and favourite short of any batsmen of both Indian and Pakistani batsmen. We were very very defensive making them (Pakistanis)  chase a low target without any pressure. It seems as if Prithu was giving priority in stopping boundaries. But what game and situation demanded was wickets and we could get there only with the attacking field setup. We needed slip and close in fielders to stop easy singles but our game plan was just opposite of the situation. Without taking any risk Pakistanis were able to clear the ropes and although took a lot of time but steadily reached the target. This strategy wouldn’t work with the team like Australia and England and I hope our captain would learn it fast. Next is rotation policy in making batting order which is not followed at all.  Look below the score and think what policy would you adapt to make the mountain chase possible. Any clue Mr. Prithu Baskota?? Watch next what your fellow friend and captain of India did

 COMPARATIVE PERFORMANCE

No one could separate the two teams talent in the upper order .What I mean is that why Prithu Baskota couldn’t promote himself up in the batting order???? India proved that they would remain the champions and wouldn’t give up so easily so as Pakistan did. Their advantage was getting exposed to the world class cricketers of world class team. The above result was a tie in the finals of this year’s U-19 Asia cup final.  Our captains duty was to lead from the front and anchor the team but he didn’t trouble the scorers in both crucial matches. It is not the blame but our weak points and if we are able to rectify it we could beat team like Australia and England. I am very optimistic about our progress and we can do it. Its all about using your brain and giving your heart out while playing any sort of game. Do it for us and play for our pride. We all love you and respect the labor you are putting in the game both Prithu and Pubundu. So I like you to give all the best wishes and bid you all the luck and do it for all the Nepalese and make the world view our name at the top of everyone and everything. I will always pray for the success of Nepalese team.

*****BEST OF LUCK TO NEPALI CRICKET TEAM FOR U-19 WORLD CUP*****
