New Zealand tour of West Indies, 2012|Match Summary

Chris Gayle

Another sparkling inning by the IPL Rockstar Christopher Gayle and Another star Sunil narine did the damage as West Indies clinch a 2-0 series win against New Zealand. Following a good form gayle was in mood to blast yet another T-20 ton. His sparkling inning was full of great shots and destructive placements and of course power as well.

Gayle  caused as much damage as he could  but was eventually dismissed by Nathan McCullum  not long before scoring  53, but another Ipl power house and sweet stroke maker  Bravo's burst ensured West Indies had another impressive score. Narine made a return to unpredicted delivering form and productive as seen in this years Ipl, picking up 4 for 12.

New Zealand were much more disciplined with the ball than last game  but Doug Bracewell was a poor performer yet again. New Zealand team expect a lot from this well-built genuine fast bowler. His performance was exceptionally poor as he gifted 43 run of his 3 overs with an economy of 14.33 runs per over. Tim southee and Ellis were also gifted runs with an economy of 10 runs per over. The stand out performer was Kyle Mills just giving 5 runs per over in such a batsmen paradise.

Each individual batsmen stroked runs at a higher strike rate and most of them batted above 150 except extraordinary batsmen Dwayne Bravo who struck it at the massive strike rate of 318 which showed the difficulties for New Zealand bowlers against giant of T20 cricket currently. Following score card proves it all.

Looking at the following  batting score card anyone could feel the entertainment one got watching the game as Gayle and his counter parts tore the bowling apart.

New Zealand tried to come back when they gave early blow and kept Gayle off strike but once he was in the mood the momentum of Caribbean was back and they put on a good total on the board. Never New Zealand looked like coming back. But when gayle was dismissed they had an outside chance but all the other stars sparkled to set a right tone for them and kept a huge task for New Zealanders who never looked like winning it. Narine and brilliant wicket keeping by Dinesh Ramdin added salt in their wound as they slipped to 43 for 5 in the first 10 over and game was not far over for them. The scorecard says it all

Sunil Narine claimed four wickets and earned Man of the match with the scorecard reflecting West indies good bowling
